Stephen Covey’s book, “The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People,” has been a bestseller for over 30 years. In 1990, before the book became famous, I sat in a bar at a conference next to Stephen Covey. He was nervous about his book launch, nobody 'seemed to 'get it'. It’s a shame that I missed the opportunity to get to know the author and learn from him. However, it’s never too late to learn from missed opportunities. Here are some lessons that we all can learn from this experience:

  1. Seize the moment: Opportunities come and go, and it’s important to recognize them when they present themselves. We can learn to be more aware of the surroundings and take advantage of opportunities when they arise.
  2. Take risks: Sometimes, taking a risk can lead to great rewards. We can learn to take more risks and put ourselves out there to meet new people and explore new opportunities.
  3. Stay informed: It’s important to stay informed about current events and trends. Per could learn to keep up with the latest news and developments in his field of interest to avoid missing out on future opportunities.
  4. Be proactive: Proactivity is key to success. WE could learn to take initiative and create opportunities for ourselves instead of waiting for them to come to us.
  5. Learn from mistakes: Everyone makes mistakes, but it’s important to learn from them and move forward. We can learn to reflect on his past experiences and use them to improve future decision-making.

By following these lessons, we can learn from his missed opportunity and use it as a steppingstone to future success.
